The 1st International Pyrotechnic Automotive Safety Symposium, organized by the French Pyrotechnical Working Group (GTPS) which gathers all the main Companies, Governmental Institutes and Laboratories dealing with Pyrotechnics in France and AFP (French Pyrotechnical Association), was recently held in Bordeaux-France, on November 22-23, 2005.
This event was also supported by the Fraunhofer ICT who organizes every two years the world wide known AIRBAG 2000+.
Bordeaux area and City , through the “Conseil Général” , “Conseil Régional” and “Communauté Urbaine de Bordeaux” have been also part of this event.
This seminar was focussed on “Explosives, Propellants and Pyrotechnics for Automotive Safety” in order to exchange with all concerned companies about legislation, safety and use of these products for civilian activities and to show all today and future available pyrotechnical technologies in this field.
This first edition of the Symposium was a full success with nearly 240 attendees coming from all over the world (more than 50% of non-French participants) and 40 technical presentations of high technical level.
More than 15 Companies in this field were showing their products in booths where everyone have had the possibility to discuss directly with specialists.
As part of the Symposium program, 2 scientists were awarded : Mr Roger ANDRY (AUTOLIV-Livbag/France) and Dr Christian JUNG (TRW/Germany). Their contributions were selected by the Scientific Committee who awarded a price initiated by GTPS and honouring significant technical progress related to the use of pyrotechnics or associated technologies in the Automotive Safety field. Those prices show the great interest of all industrial companies in Simulation works and its applications to decrease and optimize inflator development costs.
This first success strengthens the interest of all industrial companies involved in this very fast growing market. In this scope, we’ll be very pleased to see you again for our next IPASS 2007!
